Iran Ready To Make Its Scientific Achievements Available To Latin American States: Official

Tehran, May 30, IRNA – Vice president for international affairs Ali Saeedlou said on Tuesday that Iran is keen on developing economic cooperation with Cuba. According to Presidential Office, he made the remarks in a meeting with the Cuban Vice-President Machado Bentura. Saeedlou is currently in Cuba to hold talks with the country’s officials and deliver President Ahmadinejad’s invitation letter to his Cuban counterpart, Raul Castro, to attend Non-Aligned Movement Summit of leaders in Tehran. He voiced Iran’s readiness to promote economic, scientific and cultural ties with Cuba. Efforts should be made to promote bilateral ties to the highest level, he noted. Referring to Iran’s achievements in various fields, he said that Iran is ready to make its experience available to the Latin American states, especially Cuba. Bentura, for his part, hailed bilateral ties and said that Summit of leaders of NAM member states is avaluable opportunity for further boosting solidarity and economic and political ties among the member states. Expressing his country’s readiness to actively take part in the event, he hoped that Iran’s three-term presidency over NAM would prepare the ground for promoting friendship among the nations. Meanwhile, Saeedlou held separate meeting with Cuban vice-president for economic affairs Ricardo Caprisas to discuss ways to promote economic ties between the two states./end
