Iran, Russia cooperation promotes regional security: MP

Tehran, Nov 27, IRNA – More engagement between Iran and Russia can boost the regional security, Head of Iran-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group Ramazanali Sobhanifar said on Sunday. Speaking to IRNA, he said Iran and Russia are flagmen of fighting terrorism in the region and increase of cooperation between them will help improvement of security in the Middle East. Elaborating the details of his recent visit to Russia and participating in the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the MP said that fighting terrorism was the main topic of discussions. He rejected alien powers' presence in the region, adding that conquering the terrorists needs collective cooperation. Iranian and Russian parliaments underline the necessity for fighting terrorism without foreign interference, the lawmaker said. He said that consolidation of defensive, cultural, economic, political and legal relations between Iranian parliament and the CIS countries were discussed during the visit to Russia. 1378/IRNA
