Iran-Russia Follow Same Path To Fight Terrorism : Minister

Tehran, Jan 21, IRNA – Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said here Monday that Iran and Russia are following the same path to fight international terrorism. In a meeting with his visiting counterpart Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Mohammad Najjar said the two countries share identical approach towards various issues including fight against drug smuggling and international terrorism. The Iranian minister praised Moscowˈs reasonable stand towards the US anti-Iran sanctions and appreciated Russia for recognizing Tehranˈs right to pursue peaceful nuclear energy. Kolokoltsev, for his part, called for deepening bilateral cooperation in various fields including security. Based on a mutual agreement, the two can expand bilateral cooperation, said Kolokoltsev. He also said Tehran and Moscow are facing the same threats and challenges, adding expansion of bilateral cooperation will help deal with them. The latest regional developments were among issues discussed by the two sides. Kolokoltsev, heading a delegation, is visiting Tehran at the invitation of his Iranian counterpart. This is the first trip to Iran of a Russian interior minister following the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution./end
