Iran, Russia Oppose US Possible Military Intervention In Syria

Moscow, Sept 10, IRNA – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov in a meeting on Monday rejected any US military attack on Syria. During the meeting the two officials called for further consultations between Tehran and Moscow to find a political solution to the crisis. Iran and Russia are against any use of chemical weapons in Syria and oppose military intervention in the country, Amir-Abdollahian told IRNA. Despite what Western governments claim, the Syrian government has not carried out the Aug 21 chemical weapons attack on Damascus suburbs, he said, blaming the terrorist and Takfiri groups for the crime against humanity. He warned that any outside military intervention in Syria would lead to an unlimited war and further exacerbate the situation. Amir-Abdollahian who is on a two-day visit to Russia to discuss Syria crisis. He will meet with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem on Tuesday. He is scheduled to hold a press conference at RIA Novosti headquarters during his stay in Moscow./end
