Iran, S. Africa sign economic deal

TEHRAN, May 12 (MNA) – Iran and South Africa signed a joint agreement on economic cooperation, finance and banking ties, science and technology. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his African counterpart Maite Nkoana-Mashabane signed a joint agreement on economic cooperation on Monday, May 11. The 13th Joint Conference of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the South African Republic was held in the presence of South African high ranking delegation in Tehran. The Iranian and South African senior officials held talks in the framework of seven technical groups, including the political, economic, finance, banking, science and technology, water and agriculture and health commissions. South African Foreign Minister, while hailing Iran’s efforts to hold the 13th Joint Conference on economic cooperation, said Iran has provided great aids when South Africa was fighting against Apartheid, adding that Iran is a country with great potentials and positive roles in the region. The comprehensive bilateral agreement is inclusive of articles in all abovementioned fields.
