Iran Sanctions To Cost West Heavily: Pakistani MP

Islamabad, March 27, IRNA – Pakistani parliamentarian on Monday said that the West will have to pay heavy price for imposing sanctions against Iran. Talking to IRNA, Senator Col (R) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) said that sanctions have failed to stop Iran from progressing in all fields. The politician strongly believed that the West cannot deny Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear technology. “It is very unfortunate that some Arab states are forwarding American agenda against Iran”, regretted the parliamentarian. He said there is absolutely no reason for the western sanctions against Iran. The political leader was of the views that Iran is an independent country and the decision of West to impose sanctions on Iran is bringing difficulty for the western economies. “Their economies are getting worse because of these sanctions,” he said. “They cannot afford cut in oil production as oil is a lifeline to the world”, noted the Senator. He went on to say that many countries are currently dependent on the Iranian oil. The politician said Iran is progressing in all sectors despite sanctions which is a great achievement. He stressed the need for further enhancing Iran-Pakistan ties. The senator said that very soon Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project would be completed which would bring stability to the region. He reiterated that Iran-Pakistan relations are very important for the entire world of Islam./end
