Iran should act powerfully to maintain peaceful nuclear program

Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA – Director General of Niger's Information Department Abdoulay Coulibaly said that Iran as an independent Islamic country should act powerfully to develop peaceful nuclear technology. Talking to IRNA, he said the west's pressures on Iran to stop its peaceful nuclear program were unjust. He further highlighted the need for the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to set up their own satellite channel to confront the violent attitudes being broadcast by extremist groups. He said that such a channel would also be used to foil the attempts of western TV networks to illustrate a dark image of Islam. The 10th Islamic Conference of Information Ministers of the OIC member states will be held in Tehran Dec 1-4. The two-day ICIM experts meeting kicked off on Monday morning aiming to help consolidate unity and present a proper image of Islam and Muslim states. The ministerial session will follow on December 3-4. The motto of the conference is 'Media Convergence for Establishment of Peace and Calm in Islamic World'./end
