Iran, six powers reach progress at ministerial-level talks - source

LAUSANNE, March 30. /TASS/. The plenary meeting in Switzerland’s Lausanne between the foreign ministers of Tehran and six world powers was "constructive," a source in the Iranian delegation taking part in the talks told TASS on Monday. "I can say that certain progress has been reached," the source said. Meanwhile, the source gave no details on the areas in which this progress was seen, adding only that the sanctions issue "still remains one of the most difficult ones." A European source at the negotiations told TASS that "certain progress" had been reached on the issue of lifting the sanctions, but some other sticking points remained unresolved. "There is certain progress, but a number of issues are yet to be solved," the source said. At the plenary meeting of the foreign ministers of six world powers (the US, the UK, Russia, China, France and Germany) and Iran, the sides focused on sanctions and discussed the wording that could provide the basis for a document on the political principles. Foreign ministers of the UK, Germany and France could leave Lausanne on Monday and resume negotiations with Iran on Tuesday, a European source earlier told TASS. Read more
