Iran, six world powers reach agreement ‘on all key aspects’ - Russian FM

LAUSANNE, April 1. /TASS/. Iran and six world powers have reached an agreement in principle on "all key aspects" of a future deal to settle Tehran’s nuclear programme, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in the early hours on Wednesday, adding that further details would be announced in the next few hours or during the day. "We have contributed to the work preceding this stage as we have proposed the principle of superposition and mutuality in approaches towards various aspects of this problem," Lavrov told Russian journalists in the Swiss city of Lausanne. "The whole conception which have laid the foundation for this work is based on the position formulated by Russian President Vladimir Putin several years ago when he urged to solve the problem of Iran’s nuclear programme on the basis of that country’s unconditional right to develop its peaceful nuclear programme, including the right to enrich uranium, if this programme is put under strict control of the IAEA [the International Atomic Energy Agency], and if all the sanctions in force against Iran are lifted," the diplomat said. "This will not mean the end of work, but this will mean that we have fulfilled the obligations that we undertook in November - to form a political framework for solutions to all key aspects of the problem. Then, by the end of June, experts will work out technical details where serious efforts are required because the devil is in the details," Lavrov said, adding that "such a complex problem" as Iran's nuclear programme required "maximum attention and maximum precision". "The outcome we are about to reach seems quite achievable and good to me," he said, noting that the deal was expected to resolve all the issues surrounding Iran's nuclear programme. "One can say with relative certainty that [foreign] ministers have reached an agreement in principle on all key aspects of a final settlement to this issue," Lavrov said. "It will be put down in writing over the next few hours or during the day," he said, adding that the details of the agreement would be announced by EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
