Iran Speaker Blames West For Ongoing Regional Instability

Tehran, June 19, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Wednesday blamed the West for ongoing regional instability. He made the remarks at the 2nd National Conference entitled Development of Makran Coasts and the Islamic Republic’s Naval Power. Westerners including the US are not honest in their confrontation with terrorism and take different tactical approaches towards it on various occasions, Larijani noted. He asserted that spread of anarchism in the region is the result of the Westˈs hypocoristic policies on terrorism. Criticizing US invasion of Iraq in 2003, the Majlis Speaker said that powersˈ intention to dominate oil rich Persian Gulf was the cause of various existing problems in the region. The 2nd National Conference entitled Development of Makran Coasts and the Islamic Republic’s Naval Power kicked off in the country’s southeastern port of Jask on Wednesday. The conference is to explore avenues for the development of the Makran coasts, located in the country’s southeastern region bordering the Oman Sea. Larijani and Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari attended the conference. The first such conference was held in the southeastern Iranian port of Chabahar in February 2013. The coasts of Makran have in recent years attracted the attention of many Iranian decision-makers and military officials./end
