Iran-Turkey Trade Coop To Develop: Turkish Minister

Ankara, Sept 13, IRNA - Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekçi said on Friday that the preferential trade agreement between Iran and Turkey has been put into effect and the trade volume between the two countries is expected to increase in future. Zeybekçi made the remark at a press conference held to evaluate Turkey’s economic process in the first half of the current year. Pointing out that developments in the Middle East region have affected Turkey's import-export, the minister said that the preferential trade agreement between Iran and Turkey has become operational recently and Turkey is hopeful that it will witness positive developments in its trade with Iran in future. The Turkish parliament in an extraordinary session on Thursday night ratified the Iran-Turkey preferential trade agreement and it went into effect upon the approval of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. During President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Turkey in early June when the first session of the High Council for Strategic Cooperation was held, Iran announced completion of the legal proceeding of the agreement and the Turkish side said it would put the issue on the urgent agenda of the parliament./end
