Iran, Turkmenistan stress full-scale cooperation

TEHRAN, Mar. 11 (MNA) – President Rouhani, meeting with his Turkmen counterpart, asserted that both sides believe in using all means and resources to expand the ties. Iranian president, who met with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow this morning in Ashgabat, said Iran and Turkmenistan have had close relations and have a satisfying progressive procedure. Commending the efforts of his Turkmen counterpart in recent development of relations, Rouhani stated: “Officials of both countries are aware of the importance of such relations and both believe in bringing into play all capacities to expand the ties comprehensively.” President meanwhile welcomed the invitation of Berdimuhamedow to attend the peace conference in Turkmenistan, which is to be held January 2015, and emphasized Iran’s enduring support of Ashgabat policy of peace and friendship. Turkmen President, for his part noted the long and friendly relations of Iran and Turkmenistan and highlighted the expansion of ties in recent years. Pointing to common points of views, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said: “Iranian and Turkmen governments have always tried in path of development and welfare of their countries as well as preserving and expansion of peace and security in the world.” On trade and commercial ties, Turkmen official emphasized the current cooperation on oil, gas, transportation, agriculture, water, and electricity, noting that “yet, there are useful capacities to benefit from and the joint committee of economic cooperation has to enable them.” He also urged further cooperation on scientific, sport, and tourism, considering the cultural ties and the common cultural values.
