Iran: US Not In Position To Advise On HR Observation

Tehran, March 2, IRNA – The US administration is not in an appropriate position to advise others on need for observation of the human rights, Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Saturday. ˈThe world public opinion considers the US administration as a symbol of broad-scale interference in individualsˈ private affairs, wide-scale systematic breaching of the human rights in Abu Ghuraib, Bagram, and Guantanamo prisons and blocking the path for punishing those who commit those crimes,ˈ reads the statement. ˈWayward arresting and torturing the people in network of US secret prisons including those in Europe, killing hundreds of innocent women and children in drone attacks, unlimited support for inhumane acts of the Zionist regime against the Palestinian nation, and the like,ˈ the Iranian Foreign Ministryˈs statement adds, in reaction to the US annual report on observation of human rights in Iran. The statement adds that the US Department of State always issues baseless reports on Iran, based on the data provided for it by antagonist groups that work against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and in line with the political intentions of the United States. ˈThe Islamic Republic of Iran believes instrumental resorting to the human rights issue is the absolute manifestation of weakening the foundations of that precious achievement of the mankind,ˈ it adds. The statement emphasizes that the Iran has always remained committed to the constitution and the regular laws of the country, as well as the international treaties and its own religious commitments. ˈIn practice, too, Iran remains committed to observing all those norms. The positive moves and interactions of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the UN human rights system and the other international bodies reveal this countryˈs determination to keep on cooperating in this respect,ˈ ends the statement. “We’ve seen little meaningful improvement in human rights in Iran under the new government, …” said Uzra Zeya, the US acting assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights and labor. “Overall the situation remains poor.”/end
