Iran waits for Russia to realize contract on S-300

Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan. 27 Trend: Iran is waiting for Russia to realize the contract on S-300 surface-to-air missile system, Mehdi Sanaei, the Iranian ambassador to Russia, said in an interview with RIA Novosti news agency. “Iran still believes that the contract on S-300 was legitimate, and it wasn’t in any case subject to sanctions,” the ambassador said. “First, it was signed prior to the imposition of sanctions, and secondly, it is a defensive, not offensive system,” he further noted. “Iran is awaiting the implementation of supplies.” He said Iran hopes that the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu’s visit to Tehran is a good sign. “Negotiations on this issue have been held constantly, but the realization of supplies is the main thing,” the ambassador added.
