Iran Warns Against Dividing Egyptian Nation

Tehran, July 2, IRNA – Senior official at the Foreign Ministry here on Tuesday dismissed division of the Egyptian nation. Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also expressed his concern over escalation of violence in Egypt. Speaking to IRNA exclusively, the diplomat said Tehran pays due attention to presence of Egyptian people in the political scene and considers it as a national asset. Amir-Abdollahian stressed that Mohamed Morsi was elected as the Egyptˈs President by majority of votes, warning the Egyptian nation against conspiracies hatched by foreign powers. He called on the Egyptian armed forces, which played a pivotal role in defeating the enemies and preparing grounds for the countryˈs revolution, to do their utmost in supporting the national dialogue and safeguarding the peopleˈs ballot box./end
