Iranian Armenians Will Join Nation To Create Political Epic

Isfahan, June 8, IRNA - Head of the Armenian Diocese of Isfahan Archimandrite Babken Charian said that Armenians living in central Iran will enthusiastically join their fellow Muslim countrymen in creating a political epic during the upcoming presidential elections. Talking to IRNA, he noted that the Armenian community in Iran has always played active roles in all political, economic and cultural arenas. He reiterated that the Armenians have also participated in activities leading to development and dignity of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Referring to the friendly coexistence between religious minorities and the Muslim community in Iran, he said the Iranian government respects the culture and historical heritage of religious minorities. About 10,000 Armenians living in Isfahan province and southern Iran have two representatives in the Iranian Parliament./end
