Iranian, Chinese FMs discuss nuclear issue on phone

Beijing, Nov 17, IRNA – Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif hailed Tehran's efforts to help its nuclear talks with the West reach a successful conclusion. China Radio International reported on Monday that Wang and Zarif discussed the latest developments in Tehran-G5+1 nuclear talks. The last round of inclusive nuclear talks (9th round) between the negotiating teams from Iran and the six big powers (US, Britain, Russia, France and China plus Germany) was held in Muscat, Oman, on November 11 after two days of intensive trilateral talks between Zarif, his American counterpart John Kerry and EU nuclear coordinator Catherine Ashton. The talks focused on the remaining issues regarding Iran's nuclear program including the size of Tehran's enrichment activities, removal of Western sanctions against Iran and the duration of the nuclear agreement. Wang said Iran's nuclear talks have reached a sensitive stage where both sides should be committed to reach a mutual understanding. Welcoming efforts to reach an acceptable solution, he expressed hope that the future outcome of the talks would lead to satisfaction of both parties./end
