Iranian Envoy: Capitalism Accounts For Lack Of Atmosphere Of Dialog In US

Tehran, Jan 23, IRNA – Iran’s cultural envoy in the US Mohsen Eslami said the lack of an atmosphere of dialogue in America was rooted in the philosophy of capitalism. Addressing a meeting on Tuesday, he pointed to the bewilderment of the West in the face of Islamic awakening and said since the capitalist system itself is facing a crisis at the present time, American elites are unable to determine the future. He explained that due to this lack of foresightedness among the American elites, the US is now unable to manage the situations in Egypt, Syria and Bahrain as well as Iran sanctions to its own benefit. More than being a manifestation of the public power, he added, the current situation in the US shows its declining power. He said the US is losing its old status in international arena. Referring to the demographic composition of the immigrant American Muslims, Eslami said 65 percent of Muslims living in America regard themselves as “Muslims” at the first place and then as Americans and most of them do not look at American policies as beneficiary to Muslims./end
