Iranian Envoy Meets Head Of Iraqi National Coalition

Baghdad, Aug 17, IRNA – Iranˈs Ambassador to Iraq Hassan Danaiefar met with the Head of the Iraqi National Coalition Ibrahim Al Jaafari and conferred with him on the ongoing developments in Iraq as well as bilateral relations. ˈIn the meeting the political process leading to the establishment of the future Iraqi Government, security developments in the region, and the new economic, political and security apparatus in Iraq in the light of the international support for the new Iraqi Government were discussed,ˈ according to a statement issued by Al Jaafariˈs Office. The two sides meanwhile discussed the Iran-Iraq bilateral relations and the ways for further strengthening them in commercial, investment, and economic fields. In Iraq, Haider Al Abadi, the new prime minister, made a statement on Friday. He said he is committed to fight against corruption and determined to unite the Iraqi people who currently face the menace of a huge multi-governmental terrorism plot against the world Muslims, masked as the ISIS. His predecessor Nuri Al Maliki had announced on Thursday he would not run for a third term as prime minister adding that he will continue to act as prime minister until Al-Abadi would form his new government. That is a task essential for helping tens of thousands of refugees displaced by the Islamic state group ISIS since June. Al Abidi has 30 days for establishing his government. ˈHe still has a challenging task in putting a government together, but we are modestly hopeful that the Iraqi government situation is moving in the right direction,ˈ said Al Maliki./end
