Iranian ground forces top region's armies: Commander

Tehran, Nov 10, IRNA - Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps' (IRGC) Ground Forces Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said here on Monday that the Iranian ground forces are considered as the best and most powerful troops in the region. Speaking in a local gathering, Pakpour underscored that such capabilities are indebted to the efforts of Brigadier General martyr Hassan Tehrani Moqaddam, the father of Iran’s missile program. Tehrani Moqaddam lost his life in November 2011 in an explosion west of Tehran. Tehrani Moghaddam was a key figure in Iran’s ballistic missile program. He helped develop the medium- and long-range Shahab ballistic missiles. An engineer by profession, Tehrani Moqaddam tested the first prototype of Shahab-4 missile back in 2002, a long-range super modern missile running on solid fuel./end
