Iranian, Iraqi Governors Call For Promotion Of Bilateral Cooperation

Mahabad, West Azarbaijan, Sept 23, IRNA – Governors of Sardasht in Iran’s West Azarbaijan Province and Qala Diza and Rania in Iraqi Kurdistan met and discussed promotion of bilateral cooperation and relations. Hassan Yussefi-Far, Governor of Sardasht, in a tripartite meeting held on Monday, expressed pleasure over the presence of the Iraqi delegation in West Azarbaijan Province and called for increase in bilateral transactions. He said in case Kileh in Sardasht becomes an official border market, the city of Sardasht in addition to coming out of the present standstill will be turned into an economic lifeline of West Azarbaijan and even the country which will be highly important in the economic development of the region. Yussefi-Far said the Iranian side has provided all the required facilities for turning Kileh into an official border market and thus the Iraqi Kurdistan should take the necessary measures for provision of the required infrastructures for an increase in trade transactions and bilateral economic prosperity. Meanwhile, governor of Qala Diza said that assistance of the Iranian government and people to the people of Iraq, Kurdistan in particular, under tough conditions would not be forgotten by the people and authorities in Iraqi Kurdistan and Iran will always remain a brotherly country. Governor of Rania also said good steps have been taken by the two sides for turning Kileh into a border market place. Governors of Qala Diza and Rania of Iraq in a two-day visit to West Azarbaijan Province met with provincial officials and held talks on matters of mutual interest./end
