Iranian Majlis speaker condemns desecration of Quran by U.S. forces in Afghanistan

TEHRAN, March 4 (MNA) – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani issued a statement on Saturday condemning the desecration of the holy Quran by U.S. troops in Afghanistan. A number of demonstrations have been staged across Afghanistan since February 21, when it first emerged that the copies of the Quran and other religious materials had been thrown into a fire pit used to burn garbage at Bagram air base, a large base north of Kabul, according to AP. The U.S. occupiers should be aware that the holy Quran is a great and unique asset for human society, and Muslims throughout the world will not accept such a shameless act, part of the statement said.
