Iranian min., Indonesian pres. discuss bilateral ties

TEHRAN, Nov. 26 (MNA) – Iranian Communications and Information Technology Minister Mahmoud Vaezi met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Friday. Vaezi, who is also the head of Iran-Indonesia Joint Commission, arrived in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, on Wednesday to attend the 12th round of Iran-Indonesia Joint Economic Commission meeting. In a meeting with Widodo, Vaezi conveyed warm greetings of President Rouhani and invited him to pay a visit to Iran again, calling it an important trip for the two sides. The 12th round of Iran-Indonesia Joint Economic Commission meeting started in Jakarta on Thursday attended by visiting. Vaezi highly regarded the boost in bilateral relations in all political, economic and cultural fields between the two countries underlining that during the joint meeting they would finalize a memorandum of understanding and some agreement documents. Vaezi also called for the development of cooperation and the rise in the volume of trade between Iran and Indonesia. Widodo, for his part, accepted Dr. Rouhani’s invitation and underlined his country is determined to promote relations with the Islamic Republic in all-out fields. Pointing out that Indonesia is the most populous country in the world of Islam, President Widodo said moderate Islam is the role model for all countries and Iran’s policy to establish ties is based on Islam. He also noted the role of Islamic cooperation to combat terrorism and extremism.
