Iranian minister: Iran should be ready to counter any possible cyber attack

TEHRAN, Nov.10 (MNA) – Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou said that the enemies are making every effort to create disruption in software and hardware systems of Iranian governmental centers. Namjou made the remarks at a conference on management crisis and passive defense, which was held in Tehran on Wednesday. In these circumstances, all the ministries should be vigilant and fully prepared to counter any possible cyber attack, he stated. The director of Iran’s Passive Defense Organization, Gholam Reza Jalali, also delivered a speech at the conference, in which he said that the enemies are trying to impose more sanctions against Iran and paralyze the country. He added, “They also intend to disrupt the process of providing basic services for the people in order to provoke public discontent in the country.” Elsewhere in his remarks, Jalali commented on the recent allegations leveled against Iran by the United States and certain other Western countries, including claims that Iran had plotted to kill the Saudi ambassador to Washington, and said that the West is probably pursuing three objectives through fabricating such scenarios. “The first objective is that the United Nations Security Council votes on new resolutions against Iran and starts new psychological operations,” he added. “The second objective the West could pursue is to paralyze the country, and the third is to invent a pretext for attacking Iran’s nuclear infrastructure which is unlikely,” he added.
