Iranian physicians stage protest gathering in front of UN office

Tehran, July 27, IRNA – Some 1200 Iranian physicians working for the country’s Social Security Organization (SSO) on Saturday staged a protest gathering in front of the United Nations office in Tehran against the Zionist regimeˈs assaults on Gaza medical centers . They asked the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to pursue violation of international rules and regulations by the Zionist regime. The physicians on Friday, in separate letters to the UN Secretary-General, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and World Health Organization (WHO) protested against the Zionist regime’s onslaughts on defenseless civilians in Gaza medical centers. The letter asked the international bodies to condemn and punish those behind the attacks on Gaza medical centers. Based on rules outlined in the Geneva human rights conventions, all parties involved in a war must refrain from attacking and misusing medical facilities and personnel. Israel has bombed at least 25 health care facilities, killing and injuring several medical workers in Gaza during the recent war against this region. The Zionist regime has been pounding the blockaded Gaza since July 8, killing more than 900 people and injuring more than 5000 others./end
