Iranian President Off To New York For UNGA

Tehran, Sept 23, IRNA – President Hassan Rohani left Tehran for New York Monday morning to take part in the 68th annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly. He is leading a ranking economic and political delegation to the event. The representative of the Iranian Jews in the parliament is also accompanying the President in the visit. President Rohani is scheduled to deliver his first speech in the General Assembly on September 24. He is also to address the meeting on nuclear disarmament on September 26 as the head of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). On September 27, President Rohani will deliver another speech in the opening of the NAM foreign ministerial meeting. Heads of state of 132 world countries will participate in the summit with another 61 countries sending their foreign ministers to the meeting. Iran-5+1 meeting will take place on the sideline of the event. President Rohani has already confirmed holding of the session in New York. Rohani will also have a tight schedule of bilateral meetings with statesmen from different world countries. Talking to reporters prior to his departure, he said that during his visit to New York he will convey the voice and message of the Iranian nation to the world.
