Iranian students form human chain around Fordo nuclear site

TEHRAN,Nov.20(MNA) – Thousands of Iranian students on Tuesday formed a human chain around the Fordo uranium enrichment facility to demonstrate their support for the country’s nuclear program on the eve of a new round of nuclear talks between Tehran and world powers in Geneva. On the sidelines of the event, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Director Ali Akbar Salehi assured the students that no steps against national interests would be taken in the process of nuclear talks. He also said that Iranian negotiating team would make every effort to protect national interests and would not give up the country’s nuclear rights. The students also read out a statement, in which they said that the country’s national interests cannot be a subject for negotiation. The main bone of contention between Tehran and the West is Iran’s uranium enrichment program. Iran says all its nuclear activities are totally peaceful, and, as a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency and a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, it has the legal right to produce nuclear fuel for its research reactors and nuclear power plants. The West claims Iran may be seeking to develop the means to produce nuclear weapons.
