Iranian, Syrian FMs Stress Fighting Root Causes Of Terrorism

Tehan, Sept 27, IRNA – Iranian foreign minister and his Syrian counterpart in a meeting on Friday stressed fighting root causes of terrorism. Mohammad Javad Zarif and Walid al-Moallem noted that fighting terrorism needs removal of the root causes without any political consideration. The two officials emphasized the immediate move to stop spread of terrorism and extremism in the region. Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as Daesh)'s brutal attacks have displaced thousands of people in Syria and Iraq and hundreds of people have been executed by the terrorist group. The terrorist group in its self-proclaimed state as an Islamic caliphate claims religious authority over all Muslims across the world and aspires to bring much of the Muslim-inhabited regions under its direct political control.
