Iranian, Turkish FMs Discuss Issues Of Interest

Tehran, Aug 6, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi here on Monday met with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu and discussed with him issues of mutual interest. Davutoglu, heading a high ranking delegation is in Tehran to attend President Hassan Rohani's oath-taking ceremony on Sunday. According to Foreign Ministry Media Department, Salehi thanked his Turkish counterpart for attending the oath-taking ceremony and said Iran's foreign policy is based on transparent principles and change of officials only makes some changes in the way of pursuing the policy. Referring to good relations between Iran and Turkey, Salehi said cooperation of the two countries can help resolve regional problems. Turkish foreign minister congratulated election of President Rohani and expressed hope that with the new government in Tehran, bilateral ties would develop and deepen. Both foreign ministers also discussed situation in Egypt and expressed hope that imprisoned officials would be freed in that country. They also hoped that Egyptian politicians, by adopting wise policies, would not let Egypt's unity be weakened./end
