Iran's 1st VP Calls On African Nations To Rid Oppression

Tehran, Oct 17, IRNA - Iran's 1st Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi on Tuesday said African nations should seek new ways to get rid of oppression. Rahimi made the remarks in a meeting with Zimbabwean Foreign Minister Simbarashe Samuel Mumbengegwi in Tehran. Rahimi said African nations must know that the Zimbabwean leader's initiative was indeed the best way to rid the African continent of oppression. Pointing to the Iran-Zimbabwe friendly relations, he underlined further expansion of mutual ties and cooperation especially in the economic field. Rahimi once again expressed condolence over the Zimbabwean ex-foreign minister's demise and thanked the country for participation in the 16th Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran. Rahimi expressed Iran's readiness to provide Zimbabwean government and nation with its experiences and further expand relations with the African country. Mumbengegwi, for his part, described as excellent Iran-Zimbabwe friendly relations and cooperation in international arenas and said his country likes to reinforce economic and trade cooperation with Iran. Pointing to Iran's rich achievements in the field of technology, he called for utilization of Iranian experiences in all fields by his country. Mumbengegwi also referred to the 7th meeting of Iran-Zimbabwe joint economic commission and expressed hope that this would serve to further promote bilateral ties and cooperation./end
