Iran's FM Zarif Leaves For New York

Tehran, Sept 16, IRNA – Heading the Iranian nuclear negotiation delegation for talks with 5+1G on the sidelines of the 2014 UN General Assembly, the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif left Tehran for New York early Tuesday morning. Zarif is scheduled to have a working lunch with the EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton on Wednesday and the Iranian delegation's bilateral talks with the members of the Sextet will begin on Wednesday evening and continue on Thursday morning. Based on the schedule, the 7th round of the Iran-5+1G delegations' comprehensive talks will begin on Thursday afternoon. The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araqchi said on Monday that Zarif and Ashton will during their working launch define the path of Iran's negotiations between Iran and the 5+1G delegations in New York. On the presence of the foreign ministers in the negotiations, too, he said that if necessary, the decision on that matter will be made. On the process of this round of talks in New York, he said that there are still serious differences of opinion, which keeping in mind the consultations that Iran has already had with the US, Russian, and Chinese officials, plus the result of the Wednesday and Thursday sessions, progress will be possible. Araqchi emphasized that preserving the Iranian nation's rights and the Iranian scientists' nuclear achievements are non-negotiable red lines for Tehran. The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht-e Ravanchi, too, said on Monday in a meeting with the Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the French Parliament Ms. Patricia Adam that Iran expects the entire sanctions to be lifted after signing the comprehensive agreement with the Sextet. Iran's 7th round of talks with the six world powers will begin on Wednesday, September 17 in New York on the sidelines of the 2014 UN General Assembly./end
