Iran's Foreign Policy Prioritizes Enhancing Ties With Neighbors : Velayati

Tehran, March 4, IRNA – Developing ties with neighboring countries is Iran’s foreign policy priority, senior advisor to the Supreme Leader Ali Akbar Velayati said on Monday. Velayati made the remarks in a seminar titled good-neighborly relations between Iran and Iraq. “Iran has 15 neighboring countries and this provides a suitable opportunity for Tehran to move forward.” Velayati noted that Tehran can connect its neighbors to the international waters, adding that Iran’s soil is a suitable transit route for many of its neighbors.” “Solidarity between the two nations of Iran and Iraq is increasing and Tehran is concerned about the spread of sectarian violence from Syria to Iraq and the whole region,” he said./end
