Iran's Leader: Independent states’ progress via ‘victory in war of wills’

TEHRAN, Nov. 24 (MNA) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayat. Khamenei says victory of independent nations in resisting American- and European-backed governments relies on public support and their active participation in society. The remarks were made during the Leader’s meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in the Iranian capital on Monday. Commending the resistance and inspiring movement of Venezuela against arrogant and imperialistic policies, the Iranian Leader said “today, wars in world are war of wills; you can conquer problems through resistance and strong wills.” Noting US power-hungry policies in Latin America, the Leader added “the United States considered Latin America as its backyard, but Venezuelan unique movement gave this region independence and identity.” Ayatollah Khamenei deemed US aim for exerting pressure on Venezuela a way to destroy the inspiring resistance of Venezuelan nation and government, adding “Imam Khomeini toppled a west-backed regime with bare hands, but with the help of the whole nation; independent states’ victory and success also lies in this way.” The Leader hailed the country’s remarkable scientific and technological advancements in spite of sanctions as a valuable experience, adding such an experience was possible only through reliance on the participation of the whole nation. The Leader also maintained that Iran sees progress and success of Venezuela as its own. Maduro, for his part, said Iran and Venezuela are true friends and enjoy long-lasting relations.
