Iran's New Cabinet Starts Work On August 17 : Official

Tehran, Aug 17, IRNA – A source close to President Hassan Rohani said ministers who won Parliament vote of confidence would officially start their work as of Saturday morning. Mohammad-Reza Sadeq told IRNA on Friday that the first cabinet session would be held Sunday morning. After four days of intensive debate, the Iranian MPs confirmed qualifications of 15 out of 18 proposed ministers of President Rohani. Proposed ministers for Ministry of Education (Mohammad-Ali Najafi), for Science, Technology and Higher Education (Jafar Meili Monfared) and for Ministry of Sports and Youth (Masoud Soltanifar) failed to obtain Majlis votes of confidence. Sadeq added that President Rohani is scrutinizing new caretakers for the three ministries and would name his nominees soon./end
