Iran's president: Full implementation of JCPOA to serve interests of all

TEHRAN, Oct. 18 (MNA) – Iran’s President Rouhani stressed that the careful implementation of the nuclear accord would serve the interests of all countries. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Tehran on Saturday, adding “the efforts of the negotiating sides must be in line with the full implementation of all commitments so that all seven countries feel that they have benefited from the agreement.” President Rouhani then described Iran-German relations as positive and long-standing, stressing that in many instances the two countries had participated in resolving international conflicts through joint cooperation. Elsewhere, Rouhani highlighted the importance of cooperation among all countries in fighting terrorism, adding “Iran and Germany can, in addition to promoting bilateral relations, cooperate with each other to resolve regional and international issues, particularly for a more effective fight against terrorism and the establishment of regional peace and stability.” The Iranian president further urged other countries to accept the fact that terrorist groups are not a good instrument to be employed for reaching their goals. The German foreign minister, for his part, maintained that the purpose of his visit to Tehran is in line with making serious efforts to revive high-level relations with Iran considering the two countries’ great potential. He also touched upon the issue of terrorism in the region, saying “it is natural that various countries hold different positions on regional developments based on their own national interests but political and moral obligations lead us to make efforts for reaching a common stance in regard to combating terrorism in the region.” German Foreign Minister Steinmeier heading a high-level delegation arrived in Tehran on Saturday to attend the high-profile Munich Security Conference in Tehran to prepare the stage for discussions on regional developments.
