Iran`s Rafsanjani says full political consensus is impossible

TEHRAN,Oct.11(MNA) – Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the chairman of the Expediency Council, said on Wednesday that achieving full political consensus in any country is almost impossible. However, he said democracy is based on the majority vote and “no minority has right to show disrespect to the will of people under different pretexts.” Rafsanjani made the remarks in a meeting with a number of political activists from the provinces of East Azarbaijan, Zanjan and Tehran. Rafsanjani added it is necessary to promote moderation in the society. He also said a difference of opinion is useful if it is accorded with observation of ethics. “If officials’ differences of opinion be based on the vote of the majority it will strengthen the country’s foundations in all areas.”
