Iraq favors Syria’s return to Arab League - top diplomat

Baghdad is in favor of Syria’s return to the Arab League, Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said following talks with Russia’s top diplomat Sergey Lavrov on Monday. "We have a strategic stance on the issue, and we have said that on numerous occasions," he stressed. "We believe that it is necessary to respect Syria’s sovereignty and it is necessary to return Syria to the Arab League." "As for all political issues of the Syrian state, they must be tackled by Syrians themselves."
