Iraq Keen To Promote Judicial Co-op With Iran: Envoy

Tehran, May 18, IRNA – Iraq is keen to promote judicial cooperation with Iran, Iraqi Ambassador to Iran Mohammad Majid al-Sheikh said on Saturday. The ambassador told IRNA that the Iraqi government is confronting various challenges including terrorism. Al-Sheikh said that the Iraqi government needs help from the neighboring countries to deal with. Meanwhile, the Iraqi Chairman of Judicial Council Medhat al-Mahmoud is currently on a visit to Tehran aiming to develop judicial cooperation. Citing implementation of the agreement on extradition of prisoners, the Iraqi ambassador said that Iraq is interested in sharing experience with the Islamic Republic of Iran to thwart the threat of terrorism. Al-Mahmoud, the senior Iraqi justice official, heading a delegation arrived in Tehran on Saturday afternoon. He will pay a four-day visit to Iran at the invitation of Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani.
