Iraq thanks Iran for support in campaign against Daesh terrorism

Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchestan Prov., Jan 19, IRNA – Iraqi Commander of Borderguards Abdulkarim al-Ameri on Monday thanked Iran for supporting Iraq in confronting Daesh terrorist group. Al-Ameri told reporters that thanks to strong support of Iranian nation and government, and special attention of the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei for Iraqi government and nation, Daesh attempt to make presence in Baghdad was thwarted. In the meantime, he appreciated the landmark edict of Iraqi religious leader Ayatollah Sistani requiring the Iraqi youth and the Army to repulse invasion of the terrorist group on Iraq. 'Had it not been the edict of Ayatollah Sistani and statement of the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Daesh would have come to Baghdad.' He noted that he is visiting Iran to take first-hand account of Iranian border facilities and equipment and benefit from the Iranian successful experience to monitor borders and apply the security facilities on the Iraqi borders with neighboring states. The Iraqi security official said western Iraq is considered a danger zone due to sporadic presence of Daesh terrorists and efforts are underway to check menaces of terrorism coming from Daesh on the Iraqi borders.
