Iraqi Foreign Ministry Calls On Arab Summit To Take A Clear Stance On The Latest Developments In Syria

Baghdad, Iraq (NINA) – Iraqi Foreign Ministry called on the Arab summit to take a clear position on the latest developments in Syria. The foreign ministry expressed its concern about the air strike carried out by the United States and some of its allies on neighboring Syria, considering this action a very dangerous because of its repercussions on innocent citizens. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmad Mahjoub stressed in a statement "The need for a political solution that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people,", adding that "such an action would drag the region into serious repercussions that threaten its security and stability and give terrorism a new opportunity to expand after being defeated in Iraq and Syria ". He said: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renews its call to the Arab summit to take a clear position on this dangerous development." The US president announced earlier today that he ordered strikes to target the capabilities of President Bashar al-Assad in the field of chemical weapons. Joint forces of America, France and Britain participated in the attack on Syria. Syrian state television said Syrian air defenses brought down 13 rockets fired in a US-led attack on the country on Saturday. It added that the missiles were brought down in al-Kisoa area, south of the capital Damascus. "/ End
