Iraqi Official Highlights Significance Of Waterway On Border With Iran

Abadan, Khuzestan province, Oct 30, IRNA -- Governor General of Iraqi southern province of Basra Khalaf Abdul Majid Khalaf on Monday highlighted significance of waterway between Abadan and Basra. Khalaf told IRNA that Iran and Iraq enjoy friendly relations and that re-establishment of the waterway helps the two countries pilgrims to pass the water border and visit the Iraqi and Iranian religious sites. He expressed hope the two countries pilgrims visits to religious sites would increase during the two religious months of Moharram and Safar. Pointing to the two countries trade and investment potentials especially in Basra and Iranian Khuzestan province, he called for enhanced economic cooperation between the two countries./end
