Iraqi Security Forces Breaking Into Daesh Siege Help Iranians Return Home

Tehran, June 25, IRNA – Iraqi security forces breaking into an area around Samerra under siege of Daesh terror group helped some 73 Iranian pilgrims come back home, Iranian pilgrimage official said on Tuesday. Director General of the Holy Sites Department at the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Mohsen Nezafati said that the group of pilgrims were in Samerra when clashes erupted in the city following Daesh laid a siege to the city. He said having informed of the issue, related Iranian and Iraq officials did their best to get the Iranians out of Iraq through special security and army arrangements. The official said that currently there is no Iranian pilgrim in Karbala, Najaf, Kadhimyah and Samerra./end
