Iraqi Speaker: Unity, Key To Confront Enemies

Tehran, Feb 19, IRNA – The speaker of Iraqi parliament, Usama al-Nujaifi, said on Tuesday that the Muslim Ummah can stand enemies by solidarity and unity. Addressing the 9th conference of Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Nujaifi said that the Muslim Ummah are currently facing many challenges. He added that many factors have now caused rift or division in Muslim Ummah, some of them being internal and some external. ˈEnemies have always been wishing to harm common religious identity and historical bonds of Muslims. Muslim nations should preserve their national capital and strive for growth, progress and flourishment, making endeavors to bolster friendship,ˈ he added. Today, certain trends have been armed and stage maneuvers in Islamic lands, committing fratricide, he noted. The Iraqi speaker said the conference should fulfill its historical mission and make a breakthrough to end sufferings of the Muslims. Islam and the Islamic thoughts must provide best means to tackle problems, said the official, adding, ˈTo end sufferings of the Muslims, we should exercise unity and dialog.ˈ/end
