IRCS Rescuers Save Four Workers Trapped In Heavy Snow North Of Iran

Rasht, Gilan Prov., Feb 6, IRNA – Four workers stranded for five days in the heavy snow were rescued in helicopter operation from forests in Amlash, a city in northern Iranian province of Gilan, by the provincial Red Crescent Society of Iran on Wednesday. Deputy head of RCS in Gilan Province Siavash Gholami told IRNA that more than three meters of snow had covered the area as well as the province over the past five days, making rescue operation very difficult. ˈThe four workers, trapped in the snow, were saved in the first sortie of air rescue operation of the RCS in Gilan Province after the heavy snowfall.ˈ He said that in the course of the rescue operation, emergency relief aid and food supplies were airlifted to the heavy snow-hit inhabitants in cities of Amlash and Langarud on Wednesday morning./end
