Irish Speaker Attends Iran's Parliament

Tehran, Oct 1, IRNA - Irish Parliament Speaker Sean Barrett attended a public session of Iran's Majlis (parliament) on Wednesday morning. During Barrett's presence in parliament, Vice Speaker of Iran's parliament Mohammad Reza Bahonar lauded Ireland's stance in support of Iran in international scenes. He also called for increase of the two countries' relations in all fields. Barrett arrived in Iran for a three-day official visit on Tuesday which is the first such visit in two decades. Earlier on September 21, a delegation of Iranian lawmakers, led by Head of Iran-Ireland Parliamentary Friendship Group Javad Heravi, paid a visit to the Irish capital of Dublin. During their four-day stay in the European country, the Iranian MPs held meetings with a number of senior local lawmakers and Ireland’s minister of agriculture./end
