IRNA Chief Calls For Stronger Ties Among OANA Members

Tehran, June 17, IRNA - Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Mohammad Khodadi on Tuesday called for development of ties among members of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA). He made the remarks in the 37th OANA Executive Board Meeting, held in Manama, Bahrain, from June 16-17. Subsistence of Asian-Pacific News Agencies depends on development of multilateral cooperation among OANA members, IRNA chief noted. Pointing to the emergence of new communication means including SMS, social networks, weblogs, etc, Khodadi underlined that OANA members have to promote their professionalism and use modern communication technologies to attract audiences. Present audiences have high expectations from the national news agencies and therefore they should diversify their news products by using multimedia and new technologies, he added.
