IRNA Chief Hails Role Of Media In Shaping New World Structure

Tehran, May 18, IRNA – Mediaˈs role in shaping the new world structure is improving as a result of emergence of new communications technology, Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Mohammad Khodadi said on Saturday. He made the remarks in a ceremony to celebrate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, Saturday, May 17. Khodadi referred to media diplomacy as an important component of countriesˈ might which can depict national identity of world countries if it is smart, targeted and comprehensive. Information technology is becoming increasingly influential in both individual and public areas and challenges the old structure of the world in all fields, IRNA chief added. On the role of global media in shaping recent Iran-G5+1 nuclear talks, he said media affects the world developments, highlights certain events and influences the decision making process by making new waves. New communication technologies are emerging and every person has the opportunity to play the role of media men in the today world, Khodadi concluded./end
