IRNA Chief: Independent Countries Confronting West’s Media Dominance

Minsk, June 22, IRNA – Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Majid Omidi Shahraki called on senior officials of independent countries to nullify the wrong propaganda by hegemonic powers through convergence and informing the public opinion. Omidi Shahraki made the remarks in a meeting with the Belarusian Acting Information Dissemination Minister Dmitry Shudku in the Belarus capital of Minsk on Friday. “The freedom as claimed by the hegemonic powers’ media is great deception and we always witness the violation of the privacy of the citizens in the countries claiming to be advocates of democracy,” IRNA chief said. Voicing satisfaction with the current status of relations between Iran and Belarus, Omidi Shahraki said that “our strategy is friendship with all independent states and we wish success and prosperity for the Belarus nation and government”. The Belarusian acting minister, for his part, also expressed satisfaction with conclusion of cooperation pact between IRNA and the Belarusian news agency of Belta, adding, “Our country has become target of wrong information dissemination of foreign media and their negative propaganda has resulted in distortion of the world’s public opinion./end
