IRNA Chief: Iran-Turkey Ties, Exemplary

Tehran, April 19, IRNA - IRNA chief and President's Press Advisor Ali Akbar Javanfekr said on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey have set an exemplary model in terms of good relations for other countries of the region. Javanfekr made the remarks in a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Umit Yardim on Wednesday. Current economic relations and cooperation between Iran and Turkey are satisfactory but the two sides should explore more untapped avenues to this end, he said. Welcoming expansion of media cooperation between the two countries, Javanfekr hailed establishment of a trilingual news agencies covering Persian, Turkish and Arabic. The Islamic Republic News Agency is ready to play its positive role in helping expand cooperation between the two sides, he said. Islamic countries regard Iran and Turkey as two big Islamic neighboring states, he said. The Turkish ambassador, for his part, said in his opinion media plays prominent role on expansion of relation and cooperation between the two countries. “If the two sides' mass media play their positive role, relations and cooperation between Iran and Turkey will be upgraded to a higher level,” he said. Media in Iran and Turkey should focus on news and analysis provided by both sides mediapersons and avoid using news coming from foreign sources, he said./end
