IRNA Chief Proposes Forming League Of Regional States

Tehran, July 16, IRNA - Presidential Advisor for Press Affairs Ali-Akbar Javanfekr on Sunday said Iranians consider Afghanistan's success as their own success. He made the remarks in a meeting with Afghan cultural attaché in Tehran Asadollah Amiri. Wishing success and prosperity for the Afghan government ant nation, the IRNA Managing Director said the two great Iranian and Afghan nations have never been separated from each other and have been a soul in a single body. Underlining the necessity of reinforcing unity and convergence among regional nations and governments especially Iran and Afghanistan, Javanfekr said "Our common enemies are at odds and are doing their best to conceal their differences and divide regional governments and nations." Proposing formation of a “league” of regional countries, he said "Iran is not to assault or offend any state or nation and therefore we must further reinforce unity and brotherhood among regional states and nations." Amiri said, for his part, Iranian and Afghan peoples share many cultural commonalities and therefore Iran is the most reliable and trusted nation for Afghans for cooperation and interaction especially in cultural fields. “We believe Iran is the only country in the world with which Afghanistan can have the best interactions and cooperation,” he said. The Afghan diplomat said Afghanistan does its best to make use of cultural commonalities with Iran and seeks new opportunities to reinforce bilateral cultural cooperation and interaction. Amiri underlined the necessity of expanding media cooperation and cultural interaction between Iran and Afghanistan./end
